CR Auto Glass

Project Overview:
CR Auto Glass is a local auto glass repair service in Philadelphia, Delaware County, and Montgomery County. They wanted to update their outdated website and make it more user-friendly. They had a tight budget and a short timeframe, but their goal was to create a visually appealing website that would work well on mobile devices, be optimized for search engines, and be accessible to users with disabilities.

Client Information:
CR Auto Glass specializes in windshield repair services. Their main objective was to inform customers about their services and encourage them to schedule appointments for necessary repairs.

Color Scheme and Accessibility:
The client wanted a bold new look with a color scheme of black, dark gray, and orange. To meet both their aesthetic and accessibility standards, I used dark backgrounds with light text.

My Role:
As the UX designer, I collaborated with a web copy specialist to redesign CR Auto Glass's website. My responsibilities included conducting research, creating user personas, developing wireframes and prototypes, and designing custom graphics and illustrations.

Research and Analysis:
The project began with a competitor analysis to gain insights into the market and identify key differentiators. This analysis informed the creation of detailed user personas, allowing us to tailor the website design to the specific needs and preferences of the target audience.

Design Process:
Using the Squarespace platform, I created wireframes and prototypes for the website's layout and functionality. To maintain brand consistency and provide an interactive user interface, I created custom graphics and illustrations. Collaborating closely with the web copy specialist, we developed compelling page descriptions and content to resonate with the target audience.

Challenges:
The project presented several challenges, notably the limited budget and tight timeframe. To overcome these limitations, I used a resourceful approach, creating our assets and designing a custom website on the Squarespace platform instead of relying on one of its templates. Balancing this freelance project with my full-time job required meticulous time management and prioritization.

Client Package Enhancement:
I updated the client's package deal on Squarespace and customized their Analytics in the Sitebuilder backend. These enhancements allow the client to track crucial metrics such as traffic sources, search keywords, and geography, providing valuable insights into their website's performance and visitor demographics.

Logo Redesign:
The client provided only a JPEG of the logo, so I made minor adjustments to match the redesign. I also proposed a new logo, but due to budget limitations, the client wants more options before deciding.

Outcome:
The redesigned CR Auto Glass website resulted in significant improvements across various metrics. The new design prioritized mobile responsiveness, ensuring seamless navigation and optimal user experience on smartphones and tablets. Custom graphics and illustrations were integrated into the website to elevate its aesthetic, reinforcing the brand's identity. UX best practices were implemented to drive more inquiries and interactions from potential customers, ultimately enhancing user engagement and retention.

Key Takeaways:
This project demonstrates my ability to provide efficient UX solutions while navigating difficult constraints. It showcases my skill in prioritizing user needs and using creative problem-solving techniques. By following user-centric design principles, I achieved a compelling outcome for CR Auto Glass.
